My Position on Learning and Emerging Technologies:

Recently there has been a great deal of hype in the corporate and government sectors regarding AI, VR, and other emerging technologies. However, my mantra over the past few years draws on my instructional design experience and my days in academia. It is this: Learning happens when expectations are revised, and those revisions are stored in memory for later applications. Finding the gaps in a learner’s expectations, using their intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, and enabling them to revise their expectations is something that takes dedication to the human at the center of it all—the learner—in all of their uniqueness.
